HAPPY 7TH BLOGIVERSARY

'Cause here in my heart there's a picture of us
Together foreve, unfaded and unbroken
Wherever you are, your love covers me
Forever more, you'll be here in my heart
~Plus One, << Here In My Heart >>, 2000~

Hello everyone! A little late, but here's saying hello to August!

Today is a special day for me; I can't believe that this humble little space of mine turned 7 years old today!

When I started this blog 7 years ago, it was simply an outlet for me to pen my thoughts and also to keep my friends who were overseas updated about my not-so-exciting life. Back then I wasn't even sure how long I would be able to maintain this space; if you had been following this space long enough, you would know that there were some periods when I'd barely updated this space. Then there were times when I'd managed to post an update every other day. And then there were times when I had wanted to write, but no matter how long I sat in front of the laptop, I just couldn't write anything sensible.

Scrolling through and reading the past entries brought back lots of memories in this 7 years. As I read through the entries, a smile crept onto my face as I reminisced about the wonderful times and some other bittersweet memories. I was transported back to the days when I was a cabin crew, to when I was a part-time student balancing work and studies and then when I finally graduated with a degree.

Over the years I had pushed myself to learn more because of this space; understanding basic HTML, learning Photoshop, brushing up on my photography skills and constantly striving to improve my writing. I may not be the best, but I'm happy to say that I'd improved over the years. This space has seen its fair share of changes over the years, in terms of the look and layout. I wouldn't say I'm exactly happy with the current look and feel but till I have more time to tinker around with the design, this would suffice for the time being.

Keeping this blog has also led me to doing so of the things which I never thought I would, such as embarking on Project 365 and Photo A Day challenge. Though I was short of a few months in completing the projects, I did however learned a lot. In terms of photography, I wouldn't say I'm an expert and that is why I'm constantly reading blogs, studying others' photographs to learn and improve.

I'm not sure how many of you constantly check back here for updates or how many people actually reads my blog, all I can say is a BIG Thank You to everyone of you! I will try my best to update as regularly as I can be it for Nails Talk or personal updates. As I move along, I also hope that I will be able to write and share about other stuff rather than just nail polishes and my life.

July was a pretty quiet month, other than having my belated birthday celebrations with my Bud Buds and the Twin, another one or two gatherings with friends, nothing much happened.

Not that I'm complaining though. Time just rushes by me in the last few months that I have had a hard time keeping up with all the things that I want to do. I do enjoy being in the company of my friends but sometimes I just wish I have more time for myself, to do the things that I want, like catching up on my readings, movie and dramas, blog and many more that are on my to-do list.

Anyhow, as I go about in this brand new month, I'm hoping to keep a balance between everything and strike off a few more items on my to-do list.

Thursday

My birthday would never be completed without celebrating it with two groups of very special friends, my Bud Buds and the Twin. Our conflicting schedules meant that it was quite impossible on the actual day or in June itself, so we usually end up celebrating in July.
Instead of patronizing the usual restaurants that we always frequent, we settled on Mr Punch Restaurant located at the MINT Museum of Toys at Seah Street.

A rather small cafe, Mr Punch Restaurant is accessible by the entrance to the museum. What I love about this place is the collection of old and classic signage and advertisements which added an old school charm to the whole restaurant.
The service staff were friendly and welcoming but this could also be due to the fact that the restaurant was not crowded. Apart from us, only another table was occupied.

Food wise, we ordered the truffle fries, mushroom pizza, fish and chips, Cajun chicken and the molten lava cake. The pizza and chicken were not too bad, but the truffle fries and fish and chips were a tad too oily. The molten lava cake was amazing though! Luckily I was full, otherwise I would have ordered another serving. Personally, I felt that the food could have been better but nonetheless, it's a place that I would recommend for gatherings.

With the Bud Buds,  I can always be assured that I will go home with an aching stomach and jaw from the endless bout of laughter. The kind of nonsense that these guys have up their sleeves are never-ending. Whenever I'm in their company, my energy level never fails to go up several notches and I will turn into an Energizer bunny no matter how tired I might be.

They have given me several "first" in these recent years on my birthday. My first Tiffany & CO necklace, my first pair of Rayban shades and this year, they gave me my first G-Shock watch. Finally, all four of us have something in common, a G-Shock! Really love the unique color combination, black with red and purple. Of course, credit goes to Michael for choosing this model.

Wednesday
Took some time off a hectic week to celebrate Sue Ann's birthday at Porn's. Been a while I last visited the branch at Liang Seah Street and I'm happy that the food is still as good. Can't wait to head back there for some Thai food loving soon!

Thursday
The day that we had been counting down to finally arrived! A month after the exhilarating concert, we came together on the second Thursday of July to catch the opening of Mr Jay's second self-directed movie, The Rooftop, a musical, a genre which is relatively unfamiliar in the Chinese movies market.

It was a refreshing change and I actually enjoyed watching it, albeit the fact that the movie ended a little hastily. The slip shoddy ending gave us the feeling as if Mr Jay had gotten tired and wanted to finish filming there and then. What I like about the movie was the amazing backdrops and the highly-charged sing and dance sequences. So much that I rushed out to get a copy of the movie's original soundtrack the following day.

That's all I have for today; will be back pretty soon with an update on Nails Talk and also keeping fingers crossed that I can finished posting about the Western Australia travelogue.

Till the next, have a wonderful and blessed week ahead!
